Home school term 1 week 7 and 8.

Forgot to add our weekend activities from end of week 7 to week 8..

we looked at harvest

went to church as part of recycling household goods initiative so taught syd about make do and mend fixing can decrease carbon footprint.

went to woods-twice
allotment
parks
nearly new sale=bargain books.

went to harvest festival at medieval barn where we saw ferrets racing, watched apples be pressed. looked at animals. Everyone had a fab time.

sadly missed harvest festival at church due to illness but did donate to food bank syd also took food into nursery school..

Her nursery school did fab event based around julia donaldson new book scarecrow wedding

where we did crafts, made scarecrows, dressed up and ate healthy jacket potatoes and shortbread.

Really lush church for the repair cafe syd and her sister made some little friends, met some interesting new people and got coffee machine fixed for free.

More chestnut hunting and fun in woods after church and nearly new sale manic sat!

Spotted this huge pumkin on allotment. would love to know how got so big. Outs still sadly small and green.

 Who knew there was this many varieties of apple.

 There were some fab craft stalls lush felt animals.wicker ornaments threaded from corn, home made chutneys and lots more.This stall was 2 old ladies with their old fashioned spinning wheels.Got into interesting discussion about natural dyes and hope try it with syd one day.

 Old presser in barn making yummy apple juice and cier which we enjoyed as well as toffee apples.

We saw pigs, ducks, calves, lamas and sheep.


Lots of outings with some literacy /numeracy and crafts in between,

2 mornings nursery due to event

rainbows and cheer leading.

rang council no movement on wait lists.It seems the myth school places fall from sky in septtember and october.

We have had lots of fun term 1 and feel proud we doing ok.

We made most of nice weather and did lots trips outdoors knowing term 2 be cold dark and rainy so more indoors and crafts next term.

Home school term 1 week 7

The first term of UK academic year ie start September-October is the longest as 8 weeks long

We cant do as many meetups now as most syd,ss school friends now in school full time.

The weather still quite nice.

We were starting feel little tired.

Syd made this for halloween all by herself no encouragement from me!

We had bumper chestnut season collected far to many approx 3000 over a number of weeks and gave some away.

Took eldest to school always rains on school run its like the weather knows. syd enjoyed spalashing in muddy puddles like peppa pig.

Joys of home ed we get home change into onsie. read story on sofa snuggled up with hot chocolate and marshmallows and then start baking a super cake.

Syd loves baking and think the weighing good for maths.

We made this amazing cake.Was a good team effort!

Little treat for syd who needs school dinners when can go to maccy ds.
shes been so good and rarly eats junk food.

Found these amazing kids science books at charity shop 4 books for £1.
cheap amazing educational stuff now exites me these days.

Also aquired these amazing activity books £1 for 6 which we probably do after christmas.

This week we played with magnetic letters.

did some threading letters as helps develop fine motor skills which aid writing

read some songbirds early readers by julia donaldson.

we both love charlie and lola books,

played letter and number snap.

some light reading this week.I try buy story books that fit in with themes or characters that appeal to syd like disney..

some geography/art this week plus new toucan craft box.

syds still loving princess activity book and ballerina colouring books makes good time fillers when she needs a break.The ikea atlas and british islands puzzle is fab.(The atlas was free and the puzzle £2 from charity shop.

You can get 1st toucan box free. we signed up 2small ones a month 3.95 each idea for rainy day activity.

Numeracy resources this week.counting activity book, hardback book.number snap and counting conkers.

Syd looked at eid in nursery school and went to eid party at the childrens centre.

she also did forest school in nursery

cheer leading and rainbows both as afters school clubs.

Home school term 1 week 6

This week we made most of nice weather.we did 2 parks and woods

Syd did nursery school 3 mornings.

cheer leading and brownies and yet another birthday party.

We tried a new park this week.The old swimming pool has been turned into garden such shame waseent a fab outdoor pool so few about these days.

Attended a family disco as not being at a school worry she misses out on typical events a school do.

Got some retro sort science books I guess questions kids ask totally fab got 20 For crazy price of £2 off local face book group

These are very similar and ideal young children 30p each at car boot sale  in the summer.

The part form science lessons along with easy experiments some books from lidls and pinterest ideas.
we done lots nature walks and looking at trees.our topic this term has been autumn as letting seasons and calender guide our learning until after christmas.

We read we are going on a bear hunt then took pics of bear to different places in the park, took pictures then played hide and seek with the bear. Syd liked exploring parts of park she has not been too before and looking at the trees, collecting stuff for nature table.

Home school term 1 week 5

This week was a good once again we took advantage of lovely weather and went  to many places.

we spent much of the week at the park. Syds making sand footprints not sure why?

We so fortunate living in a city to have so much green space around us.

syd loves exploring all the trees.

Nursery school 3 mornings a week going well. such nice day decided little pit stop in nearby pub beer garden.

Nature craft one leaf hedgehog.

Nature craft 2 bit faint as she drew in pencil but a feather bird.

We went for few nature walks and picked chestnuts.

we played on village green collecting and counting conkers.maths I guess.

we made pizza.sorry rubbish pic but syd took it herself.

shock horror people lie on pinterest and blogs

our homemade glow jar failed using old jam jar, glitter and insides glow stick,
asked on home ed group others tried and failed too.
such a shame but least we tried failed science experiment I guess.

during the week we did usual

phonics
reading
writing practice,

we attended 2 birthday parties this week end and another park.
sunday,s pirate themed party was lots of fun,

we did one play date.
syd did rainbows and cheerleading which I count as hours PE.
schools only do 1 hour PE a week we do more.

after hectic week previous week was nice be bit more chilled out.
